Thanks to Lori, Phil, et al. for such a lovely evening at 1104 H Street NE. My arm candy twins [wink] and I enjoyed the music, decor and extensive beer menu. The backyard reminded Robert and me of a New Orleans garden and our adults only NOLA trip in March.
If you have not been out to Alter Ego and are looking for a place to chill with good friends and relax over a beer while listening to music you actually like : ), stop in and soak up the vibe. Lori's decorating eye lends a special touch to the venue and the evening. Parking is easy. No long drives or traffic hassles like going to Balto or Philly either. Ahhhh.
I have to put in a plug for one of the only decent places to eat dinner on H street. -- Sticky Rice (unless you are a Popeyes fan* [drippy saturated fat hell IMHO] which is next door). Check it out. White boy and a chick sushi chefs. Don't see that every day. If anyone can recommend another good place to eat, let me know. Robert and I are always on the look out for places on H Street when we go the theatre or Palace of Wonders, etc.
*Or "Pope Yes" as the child used to call it when we would drive by. LOL

at work at my love's quick-witted e-mail. I just keep reading the e-mail and cackling. (I'd post it, but the predicate explanation required would queer the joke). My colleagues must think I am nuttier than usual today. But, guess what? I could give a flying f! Because it is a short pink slip dress, eye-catching haircut,* leisurely lunch with a fabulous pal, sunny kind o' day -- full of love and laughter, with more waiting at home. Yeah, baby. Just bring on more o' the same tomorrow and I will keep smiling. (*A woman stirred me from iPod bliss as I was walking to work to ask me who cut my hair, and I gave her the info. I think the pink dress may have sucked her into my bliss . . . )
-- OK -- extremely vapid, vain, and uninteresting post about nothing you care about, but we are all entitled to one every so often, as long it is not habit forming.
JFC, when did we become a nation of public narcissists? Or were we always such and LJ and FB just made it painfully obvious?

I have to add my plug for Artomatic. It's fun, it's free, it's 6 floors, there is alcohol served -- and the Peeps are on display on the 7th Floor. My personal fav is Revenge of the Peeps -- yes, those are "peeple" stuffed in the bunnies' mouths. And sit on a bench and get your pic taken with a giant pink bunny peep. Plus, several folks from the scene are exhibiting. Tonight is Meet the Artists from 7-9 p.m. Check it out at www.artomatic.org. Peruse the artist catalog to find folks you know. Easy to get there. The building is literally on top of the Navy Yard metro stop. M and Half Street. Let's hear it for our local artists. Woo hoo!
